National Miss Winner Visits the Club
Alexis Gonzalez, 2009 North Carolina ANTSO National Miss, visited the Club on June 23rd to meet, greet and visit with the kids. Ms. Gonzalez, a rising sophomore at UNCW, won the title crown at the state level and will compete at the end of the summer for the national title. ANTSO, America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization, is the longest running premier pageant for teens in the U.S. which awards college scholarships to the winners. The organization focuses on the importance of academic excellence and community service, which is included in the scoring system. Ms. Gonzalez toured the Club, gave a speech to the kids about her journey and handed out autograph cards. The kids enjoyed hearing her story and seeing her beautiful crown.
