Hill Named 2012 Youth of the Year

Wednesday, February 1st marked the Club’s annual Youth of the Year final judging and celebration.   The Brigade had a total of eight participants and we are proud to announce Kalela Hill as our 2012 Youth of the Year.

Kalela, a senior at Ashley High School, has been a member of the Brigade for over 10 years.   She plans to attend either ECU or UNC Charlotte in the fall and to become a pediatrician.   Kalela will represent the Brigade at the NC Boys & Girls Club YOY competition in April.

Congratulations to all the YOY participants Devante, Denea, Vella and Cecilia, YOY finalists Michael, Brittany and Lauren and to our overall winner Kalela.   A special thanks to our Teen Director Mike Capps and our YOY judges County Commissioner Jonathan Barfield, Hoggard Principal Dr. Pamela Baldwin, YOY Program Sponsor Jessica Meyer and Board Member Rick Zigler.

We are proud of all our Teens and wish Kalela good luck in the State competition!
